More Guilt Free Treats
Home Made Cherry Ripes without all the crap.
Ingredients:
150g RAW Almonds (best soaked 1st)
70g RAW Pecans (best soaked 1st)
75g of RAW Cacao powder
12 Dates
175g fresh cherries (weighed with stones)
2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil (could use butter)
A good pinch of Celtic sea salt
40g shredded coconut
Method: –
Put the nuts in a blender with the salt and blended until most of the big pieces had ground down.
Set the nuts aside and then removed the stones from the cherries and dates.
Then blend the cherries, dates, (liquefied) oil & Cacao powder before adding this paste to the ground nuts, along with the shredded coconut.
Then mix everything together thoroughly into a ball and rolled it out between two pieces of grease proof paper.
I put the rolled out mixture in the fridge for half an hour, before cutting it into cherry ripe length strips.
Whilst dates are natural very high in sugar these PALEO style cherry ripes have no added sweeteners or garbage, they are completely clean & contain good quality fat in the coconut oil to slow the sugar absorption down.
As an occasional treat these are a much better alternative than a vending machine chocolate bar & satisfy any sugar craving you might be experiencing.
When sugar is eaten without any nutrition that is when we are tricked into more eating, treats are great, and it’s just knowing how to make them with quality ingredients.
