How To Hit My Macros – KINGDOM GYM BROOKVALE

MACRO SPLITS

Firstly, hitting macros is knowhere near as difficult as some might think.

The most important place to start is obviously with awareness to what foods have what macronutrients within them.

The image here does a pretty good job of helping with that.

PROTEIN: there is a fundamental requirement for more protein (amino acids) in the diet to the degree that we increase training / exercise & push ourselves physically.

Whether this is obtained through animal flesh or by combining proteins from a vegetarian style diet is a complete personal preference.

1-1.2g per day X by our body weight in KG’s is mostly agreed on to be the safe / sweet spot for preserving / building muscle.

As a client gets leaner on a cut there may be a time & a place to slightly increase this number to aid lean muscle preservation.

On a cut, the leaner you get the easier it becomes to tap into lean muscle instead of stored body fat as energy so sometimes a small increase buys a little insurance.

FAT: The optimal amount of fat we consume will vary depending on the style of diet we are following.

A minimum of 1g per KG of scale weight a day is also mostly agreed upon to be the point we don’t want to go below to manage hormones effectively & stay healthy.

CARBS: will most often be dictated by however many calories are left after dispersing the ideally protein & fat numbers out to each individual.

Unless on a ketogenic diet the body is performing & recovery on carbohydrates so keeping these numbers as high as possible (person & body fat % specific) is ideal in most cases.

One other thing worth noting regarding both FATS & CARBS is that they will only dictate how someone “feels” on a meal plan.

When calories are equal different % distributions of these two energy sources won’t make any difference to the rate of change being made.
